Inverness and Cromarty Firth Freeport is joining forces with Powering Futures in a bid to equip the future workforce with the skills needed by the industry.

The ability to problem solve, adapt to new challenges and integrate technical and theoretical knowledge are vital to the future growth of the region’s businesses.

Powering Futures is an SCQF level 6 programme that has been working with schools across Scotland for the past five years.

Pupils from the Highlands have been participating since the start of the year and recently took part in final presentations.

One Ullapool High School student said they had gained confidence through participating in teamwork and speaking in front of an audience.

 

Ross County Football Club has announced Heather’s Heroes as the Club’s official charity partner for the 25/26 season.

The charity was founded in memory of Heather Dallas, who died from cancer in January 2024, and is dedicated to fostering a community of support, resilience and hope for those who need it most.

The club said that they were looking forward to a close partnership to build a season of memorable moments and strengthened community ties.

Ross County FC will display the Heather’s Heroes logo on their home and away strips this season.

 

The Kyle of Lochalsh lifeboat crew had a busy finale to the weekend when they were scrambled to the aid of a yacht just before midnight on Sunday..

The vessel, which was carrying four people, suffered engine failure and was drifting to the north of the Crowlin Islands, off the Applecross peninsular.

The RNLI crew located the yacht and towed it to Kishorn port to lay up overnight.

 

There's midweek football tonight when Inverness Caley Thistle plays its first competitive match of the season in the Premier Sports Scottish League Cup at home against Elgin City.
