A Short Term Let Control Area in Badenoch and Strathspey is showing early encouraging signs…
Early indications suggest that the introduction of the Short Term Let Control Area may have slowed the growth and prevalence of secondary short term lets in the Area. Ward 20 for the Highland Council area, covers Aviemore, Carrbridge, Dalwhinnie, Grantown on Spey, Kingusssie and Newtonmore. It has been in place for 2 years and was one of the first to be decided upon in the whole of Scotland. Within the area, planning permission is now required to change the use of an existing dwelling house (if the owner does not live there) to a short term let.
