The Ullapool Sea Savers have collected 130 kilograms of waste from the sea including a large net which they have previously tried on several occasions unsuccessfully to lift.

 

The Sea Savers were assisted in finally removing the net by two German journeymen, a description of a person under the age of 30, unmarried with no children, who has completed formal training in a particular trade and who travels for a period of three years and a day carrying out work in exchange for pay outs which may include room and board.

 

The Sea Savers were able to take the journeymen to their next stop on Scoraig and expressed their thanks to all their supporters especially the Ullapool Harbour Trust who they say, go above and beyond any form of duty.

 

The Inverness Castle Experience is looking to appoint up to 65 individuals to work in various areas of its upcoming operation including visitor experience, retail, catering and general operations. The posts on offer include seasonal and part time positions.

 

The head of the Castle Experience which will open to the public later this year, has said these are not just jobs but a chance to be part of something truly special, to connect with visitors from around the world and to showcase the very best of the community. Three open days have been organized on 29th, 30th and 31stMay for prospective candidates to find out more of what is available, no need to book.

 

Highland mental Health charity Mikeysline has announced the venues for its 10th year Anniversary Comedy Tour and will host a night of stand up comedy at the Macphail Centre in Ullapool on Friday 11thJuly. 

 

Mikeysline aims to help fight chronic loneliness, to provide help for those in the depths of depression, to offer a distraction from thoughts of self-harm and to tackle what it describes as the staggering rate of suicide in the Highlands. The proceeds of its comedy tour will support Highlife Highland and Mikeysline itself. 

 

Ross County football club travels to Livingston tonight to play the first leg of its playoff fixture with the winner over two legs playing in the Premiership next season and the loser playing in the Championship. 

 

It is the third year in succession that County has had to take part in a playoff to avoid relegation and has been successful in the previous two attempts. The second leg match will be at the Global Energy Stadium in Dingwall next Monday. Kick off in tonight’s match which is being televised live on the Sky Football Channel is at 8 o’clock.
