The interchange links the A9 with the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road and the B865 which takes traffic into the city centre while it also provides pedestrian access from the city to Inverness Shopping Park.

Traffic lights will be installed operating on various phases to control the flow of traffic with pedestrian phases operated by push buttons to deal with demand. No timing for the work to be carried out has yet been intimated.
