The Sottish Fire and Rescue Service in conjunction with the Scottish Wildfire Forum have issued an extreme danger assessment for the whole of Scotland except for low lying areas with green grass, starting tomorrow, Saturday 12th, until Monday 14th July.
The public are asked to exercise extreme caution and to think twice before using anything involving a naked flame. It is stated that human behaviour can significantly lower the chance of a wildfire starting so it is crucial that people act safely and responsibly in rural environments and always follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Traffic disruption is expected in Inverness tomorrow with a number of roads being closed in order to accommodate the Inverness Highland Games taking place at Bught Park. The road closures will be in place from 10 am until 11.30 pm with additional manoeuvre and waiting restrictions also in place. Full details are on the Highland Council website.
The Games will be the largest inter-clan gathering in Scotland with the Clans Tent hosting a number of clans including Clan Mackintosh, MacEwen, and Macleans of the North, representing their heritage, history and modern day activity. Organisers say the Tent offers the opportunity to learn more about Scotland’s Clans and gives an excellent chance for those of Scottish heritage from around the World to explore their own story and connection to Scotland.
