SSEN has given advance warning that the A832 will be closed overnight between Dundonnell and Fain Bridge from 24th August, with road users advised to plan ahead.
The closure will operate between 9pm and 6am and continue for several weeks, with a diversion via Gairloch in place throughout. The current single-lane closures, with traffic management systems in place, will continue during the day.
Residents and commuters are advised to monitor the SSEN Transmission project page for any schedule updates or specific access guidelines.
The full road closure is required for culvert work which cannot be carried out safely under single-lane traffic management.
Plans to bring public toilets back to Achnasheen have received a twenty-thousand pound boost from Highland Council.
The money will fund a feasibility study, an options appraisal and a business case, following concerns from the community about the loss of the facilities.
The award is one of three Community Regeneration Fund grants approved by the Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Committee.
Kyle and Lochalsh Community Trust will receive eighty-five thousand to develop plans for a micro- eco village near Ratagan on Loch Duich (Doo-ich), while Plockton Village Hall has been awarded twenty-one thousand for insulation and energy-efficiency improvements.
Ross County has an away match this evening against Elgin City in the Scottish Challenge Cup, now known for sponsorship reasons as the KDM Evolution Trophy.
Along with other teams in League One and below, County will play six matches in the league stage of the competition, with the clubs finishing in the top twenty-two out of forty qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament.
County has taken part in the Challenge Cup several times previously and has won it three times, most recently in 2019.
