Community groups and organisations across the Highlands are being invited to apply for funding through The Highland Council's Community Transport Grant Scheme.
The scheme supports community-led transport services that help people access healthcare, employment, education, shopping and social activities.
Across the Highlands, community transport plays a vital role in reducing isolation, supporting independence and ensuring residents can reach the services and opportunities that matter most. The Highland Council currently supports 29 community transport organisations through the grant scheme. These organisations provide a wide range of services including community car schemes and volunteer driver networks helping residents access essential services. Applications for funding need to be submitted by Friday 4th September.
Last Sunday, Scotrail had its busiest Sunday since it returned to public ownership in April 2022.
Its total of over 201,000 journeys included several thousand people attending Commonwealth Games events at venues across Glasgow.
The record breaking figures are part of an upward trend this summer which saw more than seven million journeys recorded in June. Train travel is being boosted by a busy summer of events which has seen ScotRail assist customers to travel to concerts, festivals, and sporting events all over the country. Even more customers are expected to take the train over the coming weeks with additional services already confirmed for the Edinburgh Festivals.
This weekend sees matchday one of the new Scottish football league season. Ross County starts life in League One with an away fixture against Peterhead while Inverness Caley Thistle returns to the Championship with a home game against Dunfermline Athletic.
Both matches kick off at three o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
