The Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Transport has announced his intention to award the construction contract for the dualling of 6.4 kilometres of the A9 between Pitlochry and Killiecrankie to Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd.
The work will help to ensure that 50% of the A9 between Perth and Inverness is dual carriageway by 2030 and will involve new grade separated junctions, active travel routes for walkers and cyclists and flood mitigation measures. Advance works are already underway in the area to prepare the site for the main construction work, including archaeological investigations, tree felling and demolition of vacant properties.
Transport Scotland says that the contract is expected to deliver 60 new full time equivalent jobs and around £33 million pounds of opportunities for local businesses which will ensure economic benefits throughout the region.
