Three Wester Ross community projects have been approved for funding through the Scottish Government’s Summer of Sport programme.
The Toybox in Gairloch, Kinder Croft CIC and Scoraig Summer Camp will receive support to provide new opportunities for people of all ages to take part in sport and physical activity.
The programme is already delivering projects through Highland Council, High Life Highland, community organizations and sports clubs across the region.
Running until March 2027, applications are still being received and assessed, with further funding awards expected throughout the programme.
People across the Highlands and Western Isles are being reminded to check their electoral registration details to make sure they can take part in future elections.
The annual canvass helps keep the electoral register accurate and identifies anyone who may need to update their information or register to vote.
Recent house-movers particularly are being encouraged to check their details, as they are less likely to be registered than people who have lived at the same address for many years.
Anyone with questions about their registration can contact their local Electoral Registration Office.
Highlands strongman Tom Stoltman is taking on a new challenge after joining the cast of BBC One’s Gladiators.
The Invergordon athlete, who stands six feet eight inches tall, is a three-time World’s Strongest Man champion and became the first Scot to win the title in 2021.
The 32-year-old will appear in the show’s next series, which begins filming in Sheffield next month ahead of its return to screens in 2027.
Stoltman’s Gladiator identity has not yet been revealed. He will now swap traditional strongman events for tests of speed, strength and endurance in the arena.
