Highland Council are seeking an urgent meeting with The First Minister regarding the proposed public sector reforms….
Highland Council has asked for an early participation in future reform discussions, especially with regards to how this will continue to support communities throughout the Highlands area. The First Minister has already intimated that local governance will be reviewed, including the potential reform and rationalisation of NHS health boards and also the potential merging of various public bodies.
Gaelic Teacher Training has retained its’ top-ten place in the UK....
In the Guardian University Guide 2027, the Sabhal Mòr Ostaig-led Bachelor of Arts Dregree (Honours) in Gaelic and Education has been ranked seventh, alongside 3 other University of the Highlands and Islands teacher education programmes. The UHI degree programme has secured a place among the UK’s ten highest-ranked education providers for two consecutive years now.
The annual Wester Ross Tractor Run for Charity concludes on later today…
This charity event raises funds for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland and donations can be made along the route or online via a fundraising page. The tractors will set from Gairloch this morning, and travel via Aultbea and are expected to arrive back in Ullapool at around 4.30pm.
And in the football news….
Both Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle have away matches this afternoon. County plays Cove Rangers in League One while Caley Thistle plays Livingston in the Championship. Both games kick off at three o'clock.
Gairloch and Aultbea United has an away game in the Clan Donald Cup against Lochalsh at 3pm this afternoon. The game had been scheduled to be played at Kyle but after yesterday’s pitch inspection the match has been transferred to the astro pitch at Plockton High School.
