A Community Fund is Now Open for Applications in Rural Highland.

Community groups and organisations across the rural Highlands are invited to apply to the fund, which is now open for Expressions of Interest for grants of up to £25,000 until 24 April.

The Highland Local Action Group is inviting organisations to apply for a share of a £1 million funding pot to support projects that address two key priority areas: Community Asset Improvements and Tackling Inequality for Children, Young People and Families. 

Eden Court Theatre in Inverness celebrates its 50th birthday today…

The Gala opening performance 50 years ago featured the Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera, and other performances featuring Andrew Cruickshank, Derek Jacobi, Timothy West, and Russell Hunter.

Gairloch resident David Carruthers was a member of the theatre management staff at the opening and recalls that, in his words, it was aspectacular event. David also remarked that there was a lot of local hostility towards Eden Court, based on its soaring construction costs, with the then editor of the Inverness Courier telling him why the theatre would never succeed, saying it was too large, and was too far out of town. 

The Lochbroom & Ullapool Community Trust in partnership with the Highland Energy Community Partnership is inviting people to a Home Energy Day in Ullapool.  

This free public event is taking place on Thursday April 23, at the Macphail Centre, Ullapool High School and will run from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, providing a unique opportunity for homeowners, tradespeople, businesses, and young people to engage with local energy solutions.

The Home Energy Day aims to increase understanding of retrofitting and energy efficiency, offering valuable insights into funding opportunities and sustainable practices, as well as connecting with local trades, learning about grants, loans and career opportunities.
