Next month will finally see a programme of structural repairs get underway at the Rose street multi-storey car park in Inverness.
The work will last for a period of four weeks and will involve concrete repairs to 25 columns, mostly on the ground floor. As these are critical to the stability of the building, temporary propping will be installed around the worst effected columns.
Once completed, areas which are currently fenced off, will be re-opened and the car park will remain accessible for the duration of the project.
Following recent disruption to Highland rail services, passengers face more loss of services as major works are set to close the Kyle of Lochalsh line for three weeks.
Just under 5 miles of track are being upgraded by Network Rail Scotland between Achnashellach and Strathcarron from this weekend (October 18) and will continue until Monday, November 10. No trains will run between Dingwall and Kyle, but an amended service will operate between Inverness and Dingwall.
Buses will also replace train services between Inverness and Stromeferry, with bus connecting Stromeferry through to Kyle of Lochalsh.
Highland Council has welcomed the Royal National Mòd to Lochaber and re-affirmed its commitment to the language.

Meanwhile, Cllr Biz Campbell, from Highland Council’s Gaelic committee added that they are proud to recognise the very important role the Mòd plays in promoting and strengthening the Gaelic language.
Efforts to broaden Gaelic language opportunities for young people inside and outside of a school setting is a key ambition of Highland Council, and a vital strand in its Gaelic language plan.

The crew at Portree will operate a new Shannon class vessel, which according to the RNLI will offer better manoeuvrability and speed.
The station's current Trent class boat has been in operation since 1996, but will be replaced after almost three decades service.
