Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust experts will be conducting an Annual survey on marine wildlife later in July…

On July 27th, 28th  and 29th , passengers on the Ullapool to Stornoway Caledonian MacBrayne route will have the opportunity to chat to experts and to help out with surveying as they cross the Minch. These surveys are undertaken annually, and this year will take place over 3 days, where the Minch is crossed six times. It is hope that this will give them a snapshot of the current cetacean activity in the area, including possible sightings of seabirds, whales, dolphins and other wildlife. 


The Silver Chanter Piping Recital Competition will return to Sabhal Mor Ostaig in August…..

Seen as one of the most important events in the piping Calendar, the prestigious competition will be held on the evening of the Skye Highland Games on Wednesday 5th August. The Recital Competition was first held in Skye in 1967 and the Silver Chanter recital celebrates the Music of the MacCrimmons, who were the hereditary pipers to the Clan Chiefs of MacLeod.

In the first match day of the Premier Sports Scottish League Cup on Saturday, Ross County made the long journey south and beat Annan Athletic four one. Inverness Caley Thistle had a home match against East Fife in its group and equalised in added time to make the score one each before going on to win the penalty shoot out and take the extra point from the draw.
