Waverley Excursions have announced a return to Gairloch this May…
The last remaining sea going paddle steamer will return to Gairloch for a visit during the Waverley’s forthcoming 2026 summer season. 2026 is a special year for the steamer as she celebrates the 80th anniversary of her launch which took place on 2nd October 1946.
Throughout the winter months the team at the Waverley has been working behind the scenes to carefully plan the 2026 timetable, building on the success of recent seasons. Between 13th and 19th May, the Waverley will cruise some of Scotland’s most spectacular coastal scenery including Mull, Staffa, Gairloch, Torridon and the Isle of Eigg.
The Torridon Hotel is delighted to announce that their 1887 restaurant has been awarded a Michelin Star as well as a Green Star for sustainability at the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Ceremony.
This achievement celebrates the vision and dedication of their Head Chef, Danny Young, whose ingredient-led philosophy has firmly established their two restaurants, 1887 and Bo & Muc, as some of Scotland’s most exciting culinary destinations. Full credit goes to the entire team which includes local suppliers and gardeners, the chefs and their front-of-house staff.
Highland Athletes that need some extra help with travel expenses are being encouraged to apply to the Athlete Travel Award Scheme to support them on their sporting journey.
A partnership through High Life Highland and Sport Scotland is inviting athletes to apply for up to £750 to help with travel costs and free access to HighLife facilities to allow them to focus on fitness and strength. The scheme is aimed at performance level athletes living within the Highland area who face considerable expense getting to training and competitions, often out with the region.
