Dundonnel Mountain Rescue had a full team callout on Monday night to assist a seriously injured climber on Stac Pollaidh.

The casualty had fallen ten to fifteen feet damaging his lower back and pelvis, potentially causing serious internal injury.

Rescue 948, a Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter from Stornoway, responded to the call for air assistance.

The casualty was successfully extracted, with some deft flying, and taken to hospital, saving the team a very long and protracted land rescue over difficult terrain.

The current condition of the casualty is unknown; their climbing partner was uninjured.
