A new bus route for the North West Highlands has been announced.

From 29th April, Ember’s E18 service will run between Inverness and Ullapool, with a number of stops including  Conan bridge, Dingwall and Strathpeffer.

Two daily return services are scheduled, with times arranged to facilitate connections with the ferry traveling to and from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.

Ember runs seven days a week, including public holidays.

Tickets are on sale now and further information is available on the Ember website: www.ember.to

Applecross hopes to benefit from the development of fourteen new affordable homes, as outlined in a recent planning application submitted by the Applecross Community Company (ACC).

The proposed project will be situated on a site informally known as the ‘hydro field’, located near the entrance to the village.

The land is currently used for allotments, hydro-electric power, and farming.

ACC wants to attract economically active households and key workers to sustain population levels and maintain essential public services.

The application is available on the Highland Council website.

Black Isle designer, Siobhan Mackenzie, has created the official ‘Team Scotland’ tartan for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The design features a rich navy-blue foundation accented with purples, pinks, greens, and metallic gold thread - representing Scotland's aspirations for the games.  It also incorporates elements inspired by the Team Scotland thistle.

The tartan is integrated into Team Scotland's official kit for the games, including the outfits worn during the opening and closing ceremonies.

Glasgow 2026 will run from 23rd July to 2nd August.
