The First Minister John Swinney has announced proposals for Health Boards in Scotland to be redrawn into 2 strategic boards, rather than then current 11.
His proposal for the overhaul of the health service, could see separate boards reduced from 14 territorial boards to just 2 in an effort to reduce spending, although the First Minister has promised that this reduction would not end in compulsory redundancies. It’s not yet clear as to the extent of the reforms, but NHS Highland could be merged with other health authorities in the west of Scotland. Concerns have been raised about the impact this would have on rural areas, and the vital and often unique needs of the rural communities.
Highland Council is endorsing plans for a 12 week public consultation on the proposed Highland Bus Service Improvement Partnership.
This is to give communities the opportunity to help form and be involved in the future of bus services across the region. The ongoing consultation will involve bus operators, HITRANS and the public on looking at ways of improving the bus services across the area. Details of how to take part in the consultation will be announced soon.

Having won its first four league matches, Ross County will be looking to continue that run when it travels to play East Fife in League One tomorrow. In the Championship, Inverness Caley Thistle, which has yet to win a league match, has a home game against Raith Rovers. Both games kick off at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
