Police Scotland’s North Safety Camera Unit has announced the placement of a number of seasonal short-term speed cameras starting from today.
The locations of the cameras, one of which is on the A835 at Ardcharnish, south of Ullapool, have been selected with the aim of improving driver behaviour by encouraging motorists to slow down and drive within the speed limits.
The Unit manager said that these locations would not normally meet the criteria to become a permanent camera placement but the short-term deployment scheme gives the flexibility to be in places where it is believed there will be a change in traffic behaviour over the upcoming months with speed limits being enforced.
April is once again the Month of the Military Child during which the families of armed forces personnel are recognised and celebrated.
A new logo has been introduced this year across the Highlands to represent children and young people from armed forces families who are adapting to life while family members serve or have served in the forces.
Every April, the Ministry of Defence celebrates the Month of the Military Child as a time to highlight service children and the positive impact they make in their schools and communities. The activities organised by the Education Policy Team of the MoD vary from art and poetry competitions to events at military bases and schools. The last Friday of the month is ‘Purple Up! Day’, a chance for everyone to dress in something purple to show their support. This year it falls on 24 April.
