The Torridon Hotel has been awarded EarthCheck Benchmarked bronze status having been assessed against key performance indicators such as energy and water consumption, carbon emissions, waste output, use of chemicals, and community and employee impact, placing it firmly on a credible pathway towards full certification.

As part of its sustainability efforts, The Torridon has its own biomass energy plant, grows produce in its two-acre kitchen garden, and supports a circular economy through longstanding partnerships with local producers and artisans.

The hotel also recently invested £1m in building bespoke, eco-conscious staff accommodation. Owner Dan Rose-Bristow said the accreditation marked an important step on the journey towards truly responsible hospitality.

It has been announced that the funeral of Christine Baker of Poolewe will take place this Thursday, 10th July, at 11am in Inverness Crematorium.
