Ariane Burgess, MSP for the Highlands and Islands, has acknowledged ScotRail’s recent efforts to address two longstanding issues impacting rail passengers in northern Scotland.
The main issue involved passengers with mobile tickets being unable to move between barrier sets at Inverness, requiring staff assistance - causing delays, especially during busy times.
In addition, the ScotRail mobile app did not allow journey planning from Moray to the Central Belt via Inverness, only showing options through Aberdeen thus limiting traveller choice.
Both issues have now been resolved.

BEAR Scotland have announced that extensive improvements to the A9 Raigmore Interchange are now underway and will continue to the summer of 2026.
The project involves introducing permanent traffic signal control, as well as delivering upgrades to improve safety and active travel provision for vulnerable road users.
To reduce disruption at the interchange, lane closures will occur only overnight when traffic is lighter.
During the day, lanes will be narrower to maximize work space and limit closures during peak hours.
